Brit Wins Record Breaking £2million Jackpot on Slot Machine

A punter has broken gambling records with a £2million win from a 50p wager.

A computer engineer from Portsmouth, Hants, has hit the jackpot with the biggest win ever recorded by a British bookmaker.

The 49 year old gambler, who has asked to remain nameless, netted a massive £2,086,585 after placing a 50p wager on an online slot machine.

Run by online bookmakers Coral, the ‘lucky’ MegaJackpots Cluedo game is played by punters the world over and had been accumulating for over a year when the newfound millionaire struck it lucky with his record breaking play.

Essentially a regular slot machine but with characters from the popular Cluedo board game replacing the usually cherries and bells, the punter successfully matched all 5 symbols to secure his winnings.

What’s more, he is reported to have only just opened the Coral betting account in order to take advantage of a “free £10” offer before scooping his prize.

It is believed that the winning 50p wager was placed last Wednesday, 12th November, however news of the record breaking jackpot only came to light today when Coral made a formal announcement after presenting a cheque to the winner.

"This jackpot game is played by people all over the world and the prize fund had built up to this record-breaking amount. Said David Stevens, spokesperson for Coral.

"We're delighted a coral.co.uk customer has scooped the lot. For one person at least, the credit crunch is no longer an issue."
